Docking Systems

A VIABLE ALTERNATIVE TO CONVENTIONAL PILING MOUNTED MECHANICAL BOAT LIFTS...

The SportPorttm docking system may be your solution to keeping your boat or pwc out of the lake when not in use.  Simple to use, easy to maintain and affordable protection for your boat.

For homeowner's without a dock, the SportPorttm docking system can be installed directly from the bank or shoreline on your lot's waterfront, effectively offering protection for your boat without the need of a permanent dock.  It can also be moved out and in with varying lake levels as with the recent big drawdown that left thousands of homeowners out of water and their boats sitting on the bottom or in boat trailers.  The SportPorttm docking system is versatile enough to overcome the drawbacks of low lake levels.

Why a Drive on Docking System?

Sometimes conventional boat lifts don't fit the bill for your particular needs - a drive on system offers as much protection for your boat with added features you don't get in a mechanical lift:

1.  No maintenance - just an occasional washdown to keep clean.  No grease fittings to grease, cables to tighten, pulleys that jump track, cradles to adjust - just drive on and drive off - simple!

2.  No electrical - this could add over $1,000.00 to the cost of installing a conventional boat lift, but the SportPorttm docking system does not require electricity or the dangers that can be had with electrical power over the water.

3.  More water year round - an average conventional lift requires 3' - 4' of water to safely launch a boat, but the SportPorttm docking system requires half that, essentially allowing you to dock your boat during periods of lower lake draw downs.  And, if you run out of water, the docking system simply rests on the bottom with your boat on it until the lake level returns.

These are all very good reasons why you should consider a SportPorttm Drive on Docking System for your boat or PWC.

NOTE:  SCE&G'S LAKE MANAGEMENT DEPT. HAS RULED THAT THE SPORTPORTTM ULTRA EQ DOCKING SYSTEM AND OTHER DOCKING SYSTEMS SIMILAR IN STYLE AND PURPOSE (EZ PORT, JETPORT, ETC.) DO NOT QUALIFY AS ADD-ONS TO AN EXISTING FLOATING DOCK ON LAKE MURRAY.  THESE DOCKING SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN DEEMED AS A WIDENING OF THE VISIBLE MASS SEEN AT YOUR DOCK WHEN VIEWED FROM THE LAKE.  SCE&G'S LAKE MANAGEMENT DEPT., IN ITS EFFORT TO BEAUTIFY THE LAKE SHORELINE BY REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF VISIBLE MASS, HAS NARROWED THE SIZE OF FLOATING DOCKS AND MOVED FIXED SEATING AREAS BACK TO SHORE.  THE ADDITION OF A FLOATING DOCKING SYSTEM BESIDE AN EXISTING FLOATING DOCK EFFECTIVELY DOUBLES THE WIDTH OF THE DOCK.  ACCORDINGLY, SCE&G'S LAKE MANAGEMENT DEPT. WILL ALLOW A FLOATING DOCKING SYSTEM  PROVIDED THAT THE EXISTING FLOATING DOCK IS REMOVED AND REPLACED BY THE DOCKING SYSTEM.  YOU MAY HAVE ONE OR THE OTHER, BUT NOT BOTH.  FLOATING PWC DOCKING SYSTEMS ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RULING AND MAY BE ATTACHED TO THE FLOATING DOCK.  WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF APPEALING TO SCE&G'S LAKE MANAGEMENT DEPT. TO GET A RELAXATION OF THE PRESENT REGULATIONS AS THEY PERTAIN TO FLOATING DOCKING SYSTEMS.  OUR ARGUMENT IS THAT THE FLOATING DOCKING SYSTEMS ARE NARROWER THAN A CONVENTIONAL 4 PILING BOAT LIFT, DO NOT REQUIRE ELECTRICAL TO OPERATE AND OFFER LESS VISIBLE MASS THAN A CONVENTIONAL BOAT LIFT WITH A RAISED BOAT.  A PERMIT IS REQUIRED TO INSTALL A FLOATING DOCKING SYSTEM FOR BOATS AT THE PRESENT TIME.  WE WILL UPDATE OUR WEBSITE WITH MORE INFORMATION AS THE APPEALS PROCESS DEVELOPS.

For boats, the Ultra EQ system uses a combination of three major components tailored to your boat length and weight to design the system you need.  Each system has a ramp section where the boat enters the docking system, one or more mid sections depending on the boat length and weight, and a bow section.  For most boats, 3 or 4 total sections are required, larger boats require more sections.

For PWC's, you can add multiple single units to accomodate one or more pwc's side by side.
